A speargun fisherman from Florida just shot a new Florida state record Hogfish, and the fish would have been a world record if it wasn’t for a technicality. The current IGFA fishing World record for Hogfish is 21 pounds, 15 ounces. James Michaelin just caught a Hogfish that weighed 21 pounds, 7 ounces AFTER it was gutted and placed on ice in the cooler so they could keep spearfishing... dangit!
