This past Memorial Day weekend, Maegan and her husband, Taylor, took a trip to one of their favorite destinations in Florida, Disney Springs. Located in Lake Buena Vista, near Orlando, it's an outdoor shopping plaza loaded with dining and entertainment options, many of which are Disney-themed.
One of the attractions at Disney Springs is called the Aerophile. According to their website, the tethered helium balloon was "custom-built for Disney by Paris-based company Aérophile S.A. ... and ascends to heights of up to 400 feet. The balloon’s basket holds 29 people plus one Aérophile-certified pilot. Each flight offers stunning panoramic vistas up to 10 miles away on clear days..."
Maegan and her husband were considering enjoying a ride that day until and rainstorm struck the area.
According to a video posted on Instagram by @OnlyInFloridaa while they were there Sunday (5/30/22), it looks like some unlucky riders were momentarily caught in the winds from the storm.
In the video, the basket full of guests sways dramatically to the left before wobbling back to the right, far from the dock of the ride. Onlookers can be heard gasping as they watch.
Presumably, no guests were injured and the balloon was able to make a safe landing.
To my husband: "Good thing we waited, honey!"
