A Florida police officer is being called a local hero after he rescued a young dolphin entangled in a fishing net in Biscayne Bay.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, Marine Patrol Unit officer Nelson Silva responded to the bay after the unit received a call about a possible distressed juvenile dolphin.
Silva posted the video to the department's Facebook showing the officer using a pole to grab the net and pull it closer to his boat. The video then shows Officer Silva using a knife to cut through the net and free the dolphin.
Perhaps the most heartwarming line in the footage, Silva says, "I got you, buddy."
Fortunately, the baby dolphin swam off after successfully being freed.
