Former NBA Player Charged With Disorderly Intoxication In Boynton Beach

A former NBA player is facing charges of disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest, and having an open container after being arrested in Boynton Beach, Florida this week.

That NBA player is Delonte West, who formerly played for four NBA teams including the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.

According to police, 38-year-old West showed up at the Boynton Beach police department banging on the glass doors to the lobby on Tuesday night (October 19, 2021).

Authorities say West was carrying an open can of Ice House beer and a bottle of Mango vodka in his hands. West was acting belligerent and screaming profanities and as he attempted to walk away, police ordered him to stop, which he refused. He eventually agreed to put the alcohol down on the ground, but he stood back up and "began to put his hands inside of the waistband of his pants" according to the police report.

After threatening West with a Taser, officers were able to put West in handcuffs.
