Cool Front Approaches Florida, NHC Eyeing System Off Africa

(Miami, FL) - A cold front is expected to move through Florida this weekend, bringing cooler temperatures and drier air.

North and central Florida will experience temperatures in the low to mid 60's overnight. South Florida will see low 70's.

Usually Florida does not experience fall-like cool fronts until October, according to meteorologists who predict that the change will be short-lived.

Forecasters say heat and humidity will creep back into the Sunshine State early next week.

Overall, the cold front will provide a much-needed break from the heat, making it feel more comfortable.

The tropics have been quiet, and it was nice while it lasted, but forecasters with the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are now monitoring a new area of concern to watch for possible development over the next week.

The tropical wave is currently off the west coast of Africa and has a 40% chance of development over the next seven days.

The next named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season will be Gabrielle.
