Legless Alleged Shoplifter From Broward Arrested In Martin County

A man in a wheelchair and with no legs was arrested for stealing thousands of dollars worth of items from a Palm City Walgreens.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder tells CBS 12 News that 39-year old Blake Kahn drove up from Broward County with two accessories who waited for him outside.

"He was taking fairly expensive items and then places them around him in the wheelchair, under things."

Then Snyder says the man...

"left the store, got into the getaway car and left his wheelchair behind."

But it wasn't long before he and the other two suspects were caught and found with thousands of dollars worth of stolen merchandise, including blood pressure monitors, Rogaine and eye drops.

The sheriff says Kahn, who has a history of drug and theft charges, told deputies that in Broward he would have simply received a trespass warning.

Snyder says he now faces a felony.

The two people in the getaway car also face charges and they, like Kahn, have criminal records.
