South Florida Rideshare Driver Shot During Robbery Attempt

Hallandale Beach, FL - A late-night rideshare trip turned violent in Hallandale Beach when a driver was shot during an attempted robbery earlier this week.

The incident occurred Tuesday night in the 300 block of 1st Street of Hallandale Beach.

According to police, the driver had just exited the vehicle to assist a passenger with their belongings when a masked man approached.

Armed with a firearm, the suspect demanded money and attempted to steal the passenger's phone and other valuables.

When the driver intervened to protect the passenger, the gunman fired, striking the driver in the shoulder.

Authorities say the driver was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Fortunately, the passenger was unharmed during Tuesday's attempted robbery.

The Hallandale Beach Police Department is investigating the case but has not yet disclosed further details about the suspect or the ongoing investigation.
