A Wisconsin couple was nearly crushed by an out-of-control electric vehicle in Milwaukee over the weekend. The couple was walking on the sidewalk on Saturday (July 20) when an SUV collided with a Chevrolet EV. The Chevrolet was knocked on its side and rolled toward the couple.

Luckily, the car struck an old pedestal for a payphone, causing it to shift to the right just enough to narrowly avoid striking the couple directly. Instead, it rolled over them as they fell to the ground.

Miraculously, they were relatively unharmed.

"Yes, they are fine, they had a few scratches, they scraped their knees and elbows. But they are fine, thank God," a witness told WISN.

After the near-miss, the woman got up and rushed over to help one of the passengers in the car.

Another witness told the news station that they thought the couple was dead following the crash.

"I thought for sure they were killed. But I'm really happy that they're doing good, they're OK," Cha Song said. "That was really scary for me."

Authorities said that four people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car was issued tickets for reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, and driving without insurance.
