Thanksgiving 2023 will be remembered as a special one for dozens of kids from Broward County. The Eagle Regiment, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School marching band was selected to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City yesterday. Steve Rivero and his son, Robbie, lead the Eagle Regiment with 162 students.
Band director Steve Rivero was proud. He says the kids played "impeccably, and it was an incredible moment" that moved him to tears. The honor of performing didn't come cheap. In fact, Rivero tells WIOD, that it came out to $291,000 for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks to charitable donations, and fundraisers, the band did it, and did it to perfection! Go Eagles!
