Miami-Dade police remembering one of their own with a ceremony and backpack give-away on the first day of school. Detective Luis Sierra says they're honoring 29-year-old Officer Cesar "Echy" Echaverry who died in the line of duty a year ago when he was shot in the head by a suspect tied to an armed robbery in Broward. The department is giving away a total of two-hundred-sixteen bookbags filled with school supplies for underprivileged kids. Officer Echaverry served the department for five years and was assigned to the Robbery Intervention Detail.
