South Florida Immigration Advocates Push For TPS Redesignation

South Florida Immigration advocates join a national vigil this afternoon calling on the Biden administration to grant a new Temporary Protected Status designation for Nicaragua. Immigration advocate Tomas Kennedy says the redesignation will protect them from deportation and give them the benefit of employment authorization. Last week, the Biden administration announced the extension of TPS for Nicaraguans living in the U-S since Hurricane Mitch in 1998, but without the redesignation thousands of others already living here remain at risk.
