Rays Capitalize on Red Sox Miscues For Sunday Afternoon Win

The Tampa Bay Rays (42-19) defeated the Boston Red Sox (30-29) 6-2 on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park. The Rays have now earned at least a split of the four game series in Boston, which will conclude on Monday.

Tied 1-1 after the third, the Rays added two in the fourth and one in the fifth to start to pull away. After Boston scored in the botto of the fifth to make it 4-2, Yandy Diaz hit a two-run little league home run in the top of the sixth, thanks in part to a throwing error by catcher Connor Wong.

Taj Bradley (4-2, 3.60) allowed two earned runs on six hits in five innings of work while striking out six and walking three.

The Rays and Red Sox will now wrap up their four game series on Monday afternoon in a game postponed from Friday night. Shane McClanahan is scheduled to start for Tampa Bay, while Brayan Bello is supposed to start for the Red Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM - Jay Recher begins pregame coverage with the Inside Pitch at 3:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
