The Boston Red Sox (30-27) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (40-19) 8-5 on Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.
The Rays built a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning, but the Red Sox erupted for six runs in the sixth to take control of the game. Justin Turner's three-run double was the key moment that turned what was then a 4-2 Rays lead into a 5-4 Red Sox lead. From there Boston added on a run in the seventh to make it 8-5.
The Rays and Red Sox meet in the second game of the day-night doubleheader on Saturday night. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 6:10 PM - Neil Solondz begins pregame coverage at 5:30 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
