Ride Of Silence Tonight On Key Biscayne

It will be a somber night on Key Biscayne with bicyclists of all ages and skill levels gathering at the Crandon Park Marina for the 21st annual Ride of Silence.

It honors cyclists who have lost their lives on South Florida's streets.

"At 7:00 right on the dot, we are all going to get on our bicycles and ride silenetly for a nine mile ride on Crandon Boulevard. It will be fully police escorted so cyclists of all levels can feel safe," says Bike305 Manager Sue Kawalerski.

She adds, the sons of a cyclist killed last year on the Rickenbacker Causeway and the widow of a cyclist killed two years ago in South Dade are set to participate.

To improve Rickenbacker safety, Miami-Dade County has limited access to U-turn under the William Powell Bridge and added delineators to prevent cars from turning through the bike lane.
