Special Election In Miami For Vacant District 2 Commission Seat

Some Miami voters heading to the polls today for the special election to fill the District Two commission seat. Miami-Dade Elections Spokesman Robert Rodriguez expects a very light turnout, since it's not usual for people to head to the polls the first day of the work week. Thirteen candidates qualified to run for the seat left vacant since January when Ken Russell resigned to run for Congress. District 2 is home to some of the most affluent communities in Miami, like Virginia Key, Coconut Grove, and Brickell. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Voters must bring a valid I-D with a photo and signature.
