While the Palm Beach County School District is considering joining a statewide program that allows for the arming of certain school employees, it appears there is no rush to implement the Aaron Feis Guardian Program.

School District Police Chief Sarah Mooney says that's because Palm Beach is one of a few counties in the state where the school district has its own law enforcement agency. She says her agency has at least one armed and trained officer on each campus everyday.

But Mooney says they are working on a pilot program to present to the school board.

One person who hopes the district does join the Guardian program is Max Schachter. His son Alex was killed in the Parkland school shooting and says if Coach Aaron Feis at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School had a gun, Alex would be alive today.
