Governor Taps Attorney To Replace Suspended Miami-Dade Commissioner

Nearly three months after a Miami-Dade County Commissioner's arrest on corruption charges, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed his replacement.

He's tapped attorney Roberto Gonzalez to fill the seat of Joe Martinez.

Martinez was arrested in August on two felony counts on allegations he took $15,000 from the owner of a supermarket in exchange for addressing the business' and its property owner's code enforcement fines and fees.

DeSantis suspended him in September, which left Martinez's seat vacant until now.
