A machine recount has determined that investor Dan Franzese will move on to the General Election in November to take on incumbent U.S. Congresswoman Lois Frankel.
The recount was triggered automatically when Franzese's lead over Deborah Adeimy in the Republican Primary was under a half a percentage point on election night. It wound up at just over 130 votes.
The candidate says he's up to the task of defeating a Democrat in a very "blue" district.
"I think this is the year that we can win the seat back. I feel nationally we're going to have this gigantic red wave that's going to effect many many seats."
Franzese tells explains what he believes put his campaign over the finish line.
"I ran a campaign that was very focused on engagement with voters. I personally knocked on almost 4,000 doors and had thousands of conversations with voters."
Frankel, informed of who her General Election oppoint will be, said she's focused on "protecting women's reproductive freedom, getting dangerous weapons off the street and helping folks in Palm Beach County thrive."
