15-year-old leads deputies on high speed chase in stolen mini van

Collier County, FL - A 15-year-old has been arrested after leading South Florida deputies on a chase in a stolen minivan.

According to the Collier County Sheriff's Office, 15-year-old Christopher D. Rangel Vasquez was arrested after running a stop light in a stolen van and refusing to pull over for deputies.

The chase began around 2 a.m. Thursday morning when deputies tried to pull over a 2016 red Toyota Sienna minivan driven by Vasquez after the van red a red light at a Naples intersection.

Vasquez refused to stop, reaching speeds of 90 mph, before crashing into a pole and landing in a ditch.

Investigators arrested Vasquez on charges of grand theft auto, high speed/reckless fleeing and eluding, driving without a license, reckless driving, and hit and run/leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.

Vasquez’s 18-year-old brother was a passenger in the vehicle.

He was also arrested and is facing a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
