Lawmakers Discuss Condo Reform At Special Legislative Session

Florida's special legislative session expands as lawmakers take up condo reforms. Since no new safety measures passed during the regular session, lawmakers are taking another stab at passing some type of reform. The bill under the microscope in the House would require condo associations to have milestone inspections performed on certain buildings at certain times. It would also authorize county commissioners to adopt ordinances relating to repairs for substantial structural deterioration and require local law enforcement to determine if a building is safe. This comes just weeks ahead of the one year anniversary of the Champlain Towers collapse killing 98 people.
