A phony, AI-generated ad for a product called “Pepperoni Hug Spot” pizza has gone viral – not because it’s good, but because it’s weird. The creator of the fake commercial, which turned up late last month on Reddit, writes, “Definitely wasted 3 hours of my life making this today.” While he ad is pretty much a straight-forward pitch for pizza, everything about it – including the announcer’s voice, the computer-generated actors and even the virtual pizza – seems a little off. “Eat Pepperoni Hug Spot pizza,” the announcer says. “Your tummy say, ‘Thank you.’ Your mouth say, ‘Mmm.’” In response to the bizarre clip, one Twitter user writes, “This AI generated pizza commercial is terrifying and hilarious.” Another tweets, “I can’t say my mouth has ever done either of these things.” And a Reddit user adds, “Dude, this is so cursed I can’t handle it.” Even Pizza Hut officials got in on the act, posting, “My heebies have been jeebied.” What’s so weird about this commercial?
