An Oklahoma bus driver managed to escape without injuries after a deer crashed through the bus' front windshield, authorities say.
The incident happened Tuesday morning, just after Alisha Sutton had begun her route for the Lawton Area Transit System. Sutton had only been driving for about two minutes when the unexpected visitor broke through the glass. "My first reaction was, 'Did that just happen?,'" says Sutton, who'd yet to pick up any passengers at the time. "Then I was talking to it, trying to calm him down." When the freaked-out deer didn't calm down, Sutton opened the door, allowing the animal to leave.
Sutton says the intrusion happened so fast, she didn't have time to be scared. "I was OK until I watched the tape of myself and saw how close it was to ending up in my lap with me," she says.
